VDA 5050: why an open standard future-proofs your fleet
Buy robots today and you also buy a control system. Without an open interface you're tied to one supplier for years. VDA 5050 changes that.

VDA 5050 is an open communication standard between vehicles and a central fleet controller, drawn up by the German automotive association VDA and the VDMA. It defines how orders, positions and status messages are exchanged, regardless of the robot's brand.
For you it means one fleet controller for stackers, tuggers and goods-to-person robots, even when they come from different manufacturers. Leantile Floor has supported VDA 5050 2.1 since 2024 and controls third-party robots on four sites today.
Our advice for any purchase: ask about the VDA 5050 version, the supported actions and who manages the map. An open standard on paper isn't yet an open system in practice.
